I wanted to share these great tips I found - I hope that’s okay.
Did you know that you can speed up Wordpress and other platforms by up to 4 times - for FREE and very easily!
You can just add 2 lines of php to the header file to activate ZLIB compression - that will make your site (especially Wordpress) up to 4 times faster immediately!
You can also GZip your css files, etc which will save even more bandwidth and help the website load even faster. There’s at least one GZip plugin for wordpress.
You can (of course) also use free tools to compress or crunch images too, which makes sites load quicker still.
Don’t forget to use wp-supercache for wordpress sites as well!

It is amazing how much difference this will make to your blogs speed.
One minor problem to note is that currently the Wordpress “all in one seo” plugin will stop adding the home page title you choose when you use compression and will instead show the blog title - but that’s not much of a problem and I’m sure it will eventually work with it.
